28/13 Maria Callas: Book me a table at a café where the waiters know who I am Chronology Maria Callas, the world’s greatest opera singer, lives her final days in 1970s Paris, confronting her identity and her life. Angelina Jolie and director Pablo Larrain discuss how they came together in this heartbreaking true story about world-renowned opera singer Maria Callas. Pablo Larrain’s third and final film, the so-called "Lady with Heels" trilogy of female-led biopics following Jackie (2016) and Spencer (2021). I’m in the mood to admire Link to Close-up: Why Do We Need a Film Festival in Venice? (2024). This film was a pleasant surprise for me. The portrayal of this time is quite pedantic It’s not just a great, well-researched performance from Jolie, an actress who has yet to convince me of her acting abilities. However, this film lacks any self-admiring, borderline narcissistic traits. Jolie immerses herself in Maria’s weak, generally languishing character and creates a more than convincing portrayal that is worthy of praise. Everything in the right doses The director’s approach and the script are really pleasantly surprising. Focusing on the last week before her death, it takes a balanced approach to her memory, using several flashbacks, her past and present relationships, her worship of music and opera, her poor health, her weak attempts to return, her distorted perception of reality. with the influx of barbiturates, her nostalgia, her need for admiration and love. not with the Callas!!! A great two hours spent communicating with Maria.. "One Hundred Years of Solitude" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres of the month. See our December calendar for more information!
