I’m in the mood to admire

The portrayal of this time is quite pedantic

It’s not just a great, well-researched performance from Jolie, an actress who has yet to convince me of her acting abilities. However, this film lacks any self-admiring, borderline narcissistic traits. Jolie immerses herself in Maria’s weak, generally languishing character and creates a more than convincing portrayal that is worthy of praise.

Everything in the right doses

The director’s approach and the script are really pleasantly surprising. Focusing on the last week before her death, it takes a balanced approach to her memory, using several flashbacks, her past and present relationships, her worship of music and opera, her poor health, her weak attempts to return, her distorted perception of reality. with the influx of barbiturates, her nostalgia, her need for admiration and love.
