Sometimes this fusion is so intense that it seems impossible to separate them
Adapting “One Hundred Years of Solitude” to a film seems to be an extremely difficult task for two main reasons. First of all, this novel belongs to a special literary movement, born by South American writers, especially Gabriel García Márquez, where the story is told by mixing reality and fantasy.
The second reason is the inherent complexity of the novel
Of course, turning such walls into a movie runs the risk of seeming absurd and not achieving a satisfactory cinematic form. However, watching the first episode of “One Hundred Years of Loneliness” showed that the creators managed to convey this magical and surreal feeling to the viewer without making it ridiculous.
These elements can tire the reader
“One Hundred Years of Solitude” is difficult to read because of the repeated use of the same names for different characters, as well as because of the non-linear narrative and frequent breaks in the timeline. Fortunately, there are no such problems in the series, which successfully transformed a non-linear narrative into a linear one, allowing to create a strong connection with its audience.
