Most of the actors in it are friends, students or teachers of writer-director Gábor Reisz
Chronology
Abel is a high school student struggling to concentrate on his final exams while being madly in love with his best friend Janka. Because of the film’s subject matter, the Hungarian government did not provide funding for the film, so it had a small budget and crew.
After leaving the theater, I felt robbed – not only in terms of money, but also of time
This film was total garbage, it doesn’t know what it wants to be and, to be honest, it makes no sense whatsoever – I’m saying this as a Hungarian. There were a few scenes where I thought, wow, okay, finally something isn’t happening, but the director decided to leave these threads as they are, without continuing them.
I think this is a perfect example of how not to make a film
This poorly written script could have been done in under an hour, but this slow and tragically bad acting often leads to painfully long dialogues and scenes. It had potential, they could create some kind of comparison with the socialist regime change in the past, but the horrible director let that thread disappear into the ether too.
1/10 (I would give it 0 to be honest)
I would not recommend watching this garbage to anyone who loves movies.
