Miami, 1991. When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, young Dexter Morgan must learn to channel his inner darkness as he transforms from apprentice to vengeful serial killer under the guidance of his father, Harry. Dexter shares the same birthday as Michael S. Hall, February 1, 1971. In episode 4, Blockbuster employee Deb and her friend meet wearing a dark blue short-sleeved shirt as part of their uniform. In 1991, employees wore light blue long-sleeved shirts. Short sleeves didn’t start being worn until 4-5 years later. Next up is “Dexter: Resurrection” (2025). I went into this with pretty low expectations and mostly just excited about Resurrection. The beginning of the first episode was disgusting because of the editing and the CGI police car, and I thought, “Oh my God, this is going to fail.” By the end of the first episode, I was eating crow because the actors embodied their characters perfectly and the story showed great promise. While we already know most of the backstory, the first episode contained a few surprises that added depth to some of the characters we’ve come to know and love, and added a little backstory to the decisions those characters make. One episode and I’m hooked!
